Izlases sastāvs Centrāleiropas starptautiskajai olimpiādei Brno un Jedovnicē

JedovniceVai kādreiz esi sajuties kā Znaroks vai Uļjana Semjonova, kad katra pēc katra tava spertā soļa vai pieļautās kļūdas smagi nopūšas vesela valsts - Latvija. Arī šiem četriem puišiem lemts līdzīgs liktenis - pārstāvēt Latvijas valsti  Centrāleiropas V Starptautiskajā ģeogrāfijas olimpiādē, kas notiks no 2011.gada 24. līdz 27.augustam Brno un Jedovnicē, Čehijā:
  • Armands Rudušs (Siguldas Valsts ģ., 12.klase)
  • Dāvis Immurs (Natālijas Draudziņas ģ. 12.klase)
  • Jurģis Suts (Valmieras Pārgaujas ģ., 12.klase)
  • Māris Seržāns (Rīgas Valsts 1.ģ. 10.klase)
Izlases sastāvs (un teorētiski arī rezervisti, ja kāds no pamatsastāva netiek) noteikts saskaņā ar Valsts ģeogrāfijas olimpiādes rezultātiem. Lūdzam visiem 4 nosauktajiem dalībniekiem sazināties ar JĢS prezidentu Uldi Kleperu (uldis.klepers@jgs.lv, tālrunis: 29203427), kurš, paredzams, būs arī izlases vadītājs - lai informētu par savu gatavību startēt un sāktu kopīgi plānot arī atbalsta lūgšanu savām pašvaldībām, lai segtu dalības maksu un ceļa izdevumus (tāpat kā iepriekšējos gados).

Lai Latvijas valsts pārāk bieži un smagi nenopūstos, atliek tik pienācīgi sagatavoties un uzvarēt, treniņiem izmantojot iepriekšējo gadu uzdevumus un mācību materiālus (konsultējieties arī ar saviem ģeogrāfijas skolotājiem):

1. Participating countries: Czechia, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Russia, Estonia, Romania, Latvia

2. Individual competition:

General: The competition includes following events – fieldwork test, written test, multimedia test and orienteering – with GPS. The official language is English, i.e., students must be able to answer test questions in English.

Competition items:
    • Fieldwork project – limestone quarry Seč and future (40%) 49°19'58.065"N, 16°43'0.948"E
    • Written Test (30%) 
    • Multimedia Test (20%) 
    • Orienteering – GPS (10%)

4. Guidelines for tests:
  • Every participating country is required to compile and submit 5 questions dealing with home country realia – please choose from the list of Themis below. 
  • Orienteering with GPS requires experience with the Garmin – eTrex Vista HCx instrument – see Garmin web pages. 
  • The individual and team fieldwork is planned to consist of the area recongnaissance, work with thematic maps, proposal sketch completing and task solution proposal. 
 5. The suggested topics/themes:

The suggested topics/themes from which the questions in the Written Response Test and Multi Media Test of iGeo will be chosen are:
    • environmental geography & sustainable development 
    • population & population change 
    • economic geography & globalisation 
    • tourism & tourism management 
    • cultural geography & regional identities 
Required skills:
    • map skills (read, analyse and interpret maps) 
    • inquiry skills vet 
    • graphicacy skills (read, analyse and interpret images, photos, statistics, graphs) 
6. The Written Response Test:
  • Consists of 25 – 30 questions about 120 min per all test 
  • There is a balance between the physical and human geography in the test. 
  • We expect the participants to show they can apply their knowledge in concrete regional contexts and use geographical skills; we do not intend to test only the theoretical geographical knowledge of participants about the test. The contexts can be presented by maps, figures and graphs. 
7. The Multi Media Test. Test consists of:
  • 40 items (about 1 - 2 min. per item, depending on complexity of source material) about issues that are geographically and socially relevant, that require topical and applied geographical knowledge and geographical skills,
  • and deal with physical and human geography, either separately or integrated,
  • each item consists of a map and/or digital photo, film or graph and a short question,
  • the question is a multiple-choice question with 4 options,
  • the test will cover all 12 topics from the list,
  • there is a balance between physical and human geography in the test. 
8. Fieldwork Exercise. The Fieldwork Assignment consists of:
  • Observation and mapping
  • Analysis of spatial issue in fieldwork area including additional data gathering
  • Problem-solving exercise leading to a proposal including a spatial plan or map
9. Orienteering – GPS:
  • With Go-to find and locate 10 sites.
  • Using the Go-to function, competitors find out and name individual sites (totally 10 sites on the 3 km long path).
10. Culture evening:
  1. Welcome party.
  2. Participant countries presentation – about their home countries.
  3. Farewell meeting and competition results proclamation.
